Sea Eagles Swoop 2018 Junior State Cup

The final NSW Junior State Cup in its current format (northern and southern regions combined) went out with a bang – 358 teams from 51 NSWTA Affiliates contested 20 State Titles, bringing 20,000 people to the region. Teams from as far south as Wagga Wagga, Murwillumbah in the north and Parkes in the west.

Throughout the three-day tournament, a total of 1272 games were officiated by 450 referees.

The Manly Sea Eagles managed to win an unprecedented 8th consecutive Club Championship. The only thing to top that was the same club’s U18s Girls team becoming champions for the 9th time in a row by defeating next year’s NSWJSC Southern Conference hosts, the Wagga Wagga Vipers with a score of 11-4.

A shout-out to the U10s Girls and Boys from Manly also – both these young teams won their grand finals also.

Wagga Wagga teams, despite not defeating the Manly U18s Girls, put in a strong effort over all – the club was runner-up, with 96 points to Manly’s 149. The Central Coast Dolphins and Penrith Panthers tied in third place, with 77 points each.

In the U18s Boys Grand Final, the Central Coast Dolphins managed to come out on top of Manly, in a strong defeat, 13-6.

NSW Touch would like to thank all the clubs, players, referees, volunteers and parents for helping to make the 2018 JSC a fantastic and memorable event, and to congratulate all the winners:
