Sea Eagles Soar at State Final

Elite level competition and the number of Affiliates now entering the NSW Junior State Cup to participate at either the Northern or Southern Conference is a sign of the great work that has been done to establish an elite pathway for our juniors.

The NSW Junior State Cup Final as a whole has produced some wonderful talent in not only players but also young coaches.

In the Boys 18s Final, Northern Conference winners Central Coast Dolphins came up against runners up of the Southern Conference, Western Suburbs who were narrowly beaten by the Hills Hornets.  The game went for 7 minutes before Michal Tannous found himself open thanks to the brilliant speed of Krystian Mapapalangi.  With the point score for Junior State Cup, the finals series sees 3 points for the first touch down and 2 points for every touch down after that and Central Coast were quick to reply on the next set taking the score to 3-2.  With two different styles of play, Western Suburbs defence proved too strong taking the win 7-2.

The Girls 18s saw country v city with the Macksville Falcons successful in securing their position in a grand final against the team that everything to play for, Manly. It only took just over three minutes for Manly to run through the middle and score early. With Macksville Falcons now back in control, they showed Manly that they came to play scoring within the next set scored in the corner.  With both teams wanting the win the game was fast-paced going try for try until Manly ran away with the game taking the win 15-10.  It’s  a story like no other, the same group of girls from Manly for the past 10 years, have been undefeated in every round game of the JSC, have won every final (including the new JSC format) and in its inaugural year have taken out the title of State Champions
