Yrs 9 & 10 All Schools State Final Nears

Yes it’s that time of year again and the 2015 Yr 9/10 State Final is just over a week away. The event will once again be held at the home of Penrith Touch Association (The Kingsway Playing Fields, St Marys) on Friday June 12th. Last year’s event saw two cracking final match ups in both the Girls and the Boys competitions.

The Girls Finals series was a display of skill, tenacity and endurance as the players from all sides pulled every ounce of energy they could after toughing out the pool phase and finding a finals series which ensured only the best of the best would make the Grand Final.

Hills Sports cruised past a well drilled Narrabeen sports side in the quarter final stage. They then cemented their place in the Final after defeating a tired MuswellBrook High team 8-1, who had just scraped through their quarter final clash against Kildare Catholic College 4-3.

Reddam House however came through their quarter final match Scoring Five touchdowns and only conceding one to Bundarra Central School. Their Semi Final matchup with Tweed River High was a matchup which could have seen either side go through to the final. Reddam House prevailed 4-3 and set the Stage for and East meets West Grand Final in which the West prevailed and Hills Sports were crowned 2014 Girls Yr 9/10 All Schools State Champions.

The Boys competition was fierce and saw another East vs West Grand Final between Patrician Brothers and Narrabeen Sports High. Patrician Brothers defeated Francis Greenway High in their quarter final match. They then faced up against Hunter Sports High in what was a hard fought Semi-final win to put them through to the Grand Final.

Narrabeen Sports High came up against Woolooware in their quarter final prevailing 4-3. Their Semi-final matchup was against Red Bend Catholic College. Narrabeen managed a 3-2 victory to put themselves into the Grand Final.

Narrabeen Sports High was Crowned 2014 Boys Yr 9/10 State Final Champions with a win over Patrician Brothers.

Who will be Yr 9/10 State Champion in 2015? Only time will tell.

Best of luck to all schools Participating next Friday. Let the Countdown to the 2015 Yr 9/10 State Finals begin!
